Manifesto

I believe that the best photos are the ones that truly capture the spirit of a moment. It's my goal to document you and your loved ones exactly as you are...your natural expressions, environment, and reactions create the most meaningful images, and I see it as my job to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera in a way that produces an image that truly feels like you.

I let my intuition and my artistic vision drive me to create something truly beautiful and totally unique for you. I favor following the essence of my subject to forcing something inauthentic + truly could not appreciate my clients enough for trusting my aesthetic. I know how vulnerable it can feel to be in front of a camera--it's incredibly important to me to build a bond with a client that allows me to know exactly what they are looking for in a photograph.

In a world inundated with iPhone photography, easily accessible digital cameras and attractive filters, it's easy to think "a photo is just a photo" and avoid the expense of hiring a photographer. I couldn't disagree more. I grew up in a pre-digital photo world, and am incredibly grateful for all of the time and effort my mother put into photographing every moment of my sister and me as we grew up. (After all, it is she who instilled in me the principle of the importance of preserving our memories from basically my birth.) The problem is that she, my beautiful mother, is absent from many of those photos because she was the one taking them. In addition to me wishing she could be in so many of those photos with the rest of my family, the photos I'm most grateful for in my life are the ones captured intentionally, by someone who understood the sensitivity or joy of a moment, and knew just how to capture them on film. That's my goal as your photographer during every type of session.

A little about me...

I’m an East Tennessee native + have a love/hate relationship with the South. I love to travel, but I am always happy to come home to my Knoxville community.

I’m an extroverted introvert—I love meeting new people + spending time with friends, but I definitely need my alone time to keep myself balanced. I’m an Enneagram Type 4 + INFJ + Aquarius + my love language is Acts of Service.

I love + miss live music + even play some of my own—I studied Old-Time music in college + still break out my banjo every so often. I listen to a variety of music, but especially love the 70's rock + folk music I grew up listening to with my parents + early 2000's indie music that I fell in love with in high school.

I am a lover of all things nostalgic, from vinyl records to vintage furniture to polaroids. I was often described as an "old soul" as a child + I have pretty much lived up to that description into my adulthood.
